I broke down and purchased a new laptop. This Laptop was the first one I’ve purchased since starting Abacus Computer. I wasn’t afraid to spend money, and I needed a work horse for all the different jobs I do. I went to the dell site, picked out an Inspiron 1521. 2 gigs Ram, fast Turion processor just what I needed.

                                      The Laptop was supposed to be delivered on Thursday, to my surprise Monday afternoon my Christmas gift arrived.  Fast, beautiful black finish, DVD Burner? I cheaped out and didn’t order a DVD burner, I got one, oh merry Christmas.  This beautiful machine had one problem Vista. I reinstalled Windows XP searched for the drivers and was back running full speed.

                                      Being a TechNet member I installed Service Pack 3 Release Candidate for XP.  Can my PC get faster, it did. This little gem is far better than the HP’s or Toshibas I’ve worked on and NO proprietary hardware. Dells support staff was great in helping find drivers for XP even though they technically don’t have to support Windows XP.

I received my Laptop 3 days early, better components than ordered and best of all; I’ve got dells support to back me up.

                             If you’ve got the Triple Package, Phone, Internet, & Digital cable for $99 thru Bright House, you can upgrade your Internet Speed to 15 Megs a second for $15. This is NOT a Typo. I just added it, took a minute and now am testing out at 15223.9 Kbs. Over 15 Megs a second. The staff had my connection upgraded in less than a minute. (That's why they are my Vendor of the year)

                              BrightHouse, you’re really making it impossible to leave you, even if offered a free TV to change. From everyone in the Tampa bay area, thanks for the inexpensive major internet speed upgrade.

                                      The Annual Vendor of the year Award goes to two companies this year. Brighthouse Cable, Phone, and Internet. There Tech Support folks go the extra mile to make sure you’re happy. Because cable carries more data than phone, there products are top notch. Every time I’ve had a problem they were out the next day if needed. There entire staff is competent in their respective roles. No scripts there, all there Techs, Account folks know there business. If you compare Brighthouse to their competitors, there’s no choice. Fred Jones from India isn’t even competent. Brighthouse employs our friends, classmates, maybe your next door neighbor, and I can understand them.

                                    HostGator is my Second Vendor of the year. A couple of their employees are extremely bright like David Ibarra. He brings ProActive to a new realm of service. Every business needs a couple people like this. Non Patronizing, helpful, & bright. I’ll be doing business with both companies for a long time in the future.

Support in this day and age is a mess. It’s refreshing the levels of support these American staffed companies run. The support provided was free, just part of their service. Thanks to your companies, you’re giving me a couple less things to worry about.
