Reduce Spam While Reporting the Spammers

Reduce Spam While Reporting the Spammers

There is an effective way to reduce spam while reporting the spammers. Using Microsoft Outlook makes this chore easy. First open the E-Mail. Go to View and Options, and there are the Message Options. The Header below contains ALL the sending Information. Some of this can be spoofed but the Sending IP Address & Mac Address is there intact.

Copy all this info from the Internet Header, and go to the SPAM you just opened, press the Forward button up top, and paste the Internet Header Information on to the top of the Forwarded Letters Content. That’s the Evidence the ISPs (Internet Service Providers) need to take a Spammer off the Internet for good. Now to find the Specific Domain & Contact Info.

Look on the header for Information similar to this: Received: from [220.125.167.27] (port=3335 helo=-1209993816). The Ip (IP= Internet Protocol) Address ([220.125.167.27]) is the identifier. Copy the Ip Address minus the brackets so you have this 220.125.167.2. Copy just this address and open up your Internet Explorer.

Go to http://lacnic.net/cgi-bin/lacnic/whois?lg=EN this is an Internet Directory and will give you the ownership info for all domains. Paste the Ip Address into the search box and press Search. There it is, all the info you need to report the Spammer. Look for the E-Mail or Abuse lines, copy the appropriate E-Mail address to paste into that forwarded E-Mail you’ve got set up. The ISPs are motivated because inaction can cause them, to lose the Internet.

ICANN or commonly known as the Internet Gods assign specific Ip Addresses to specific names. Http://www.AbacusComputer.us Resolves or is IP Address 70.87.76.162 after the Domain Servers (DNS) change it from a name to an Ip Address. If an ISP or Domain does not take action on spammers they risk losing there Internet Addresses.

For the Investment Pump and Dump Schemes forward the E-mail with the Header Info to enforcement@sec.gov They keep track and use this information.

Over the years I’ve effectively reduced the Spam sent to me by reporting each and everyone of these scum#$%@.

Indexed by Google within 2 hours

Unbelievable, my blog was indexed by Google within 2 hours of being written. I new Google was good, this is unbelievable (It's a Microsoft Blog). Indexing websites and blogs is a time consuming process. The search Robot usually either starts at you root domain or comes off someone else’s link to you. Just 2-3 years a go seeing a Robot (Internet Search Companies indexing tool) come by once a week was outstanding. I’d love to see the Google data center (Probably lots of them). After Googling Google Data Centers I found lots of stuff.

Why does Google seem to be so open, Microsoft so closed. I feel the hundreds of departments choking out the life of Microsoft in EVERY DEALING I have with them. It’s always a chore getting anything accomplished in a timely manner. Microsoft is trying but there surveys come up at the worst times, and I could never figure out how to report errors in Vista to them. It isn’t worth the trouble (Time Factor) Like being unable to paste (To MSN Blogs) by clicking the mouse instead of having to go to the tool bar, things like that.

Microsofts Vista will have the SAME Licencing Features as XP

Ahhhhhhhhh. Microsoft has clarified there licensing and it’ll be the same as Windows XP. That’s tolerable and expected, anything less would have caused mass migrations to Mac or Linux. I call Microsoft 5-10 times a week now, after changing hard drives, motherboards, etc. It’s tolerable but barley. This policy frustrates the Techs like me who have to make the calls. The New policy is written about in Computer World: http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9004498&source=NLT_PM&nlid=8

I really can’t blame Microsoft, as I see 2-3 stolen Microsoft Operating systems a week. The clients know because they can’t update properly. What Moron has me validating before I install Windows Defender and 1 minute later has me validate again before I can install it. Microsoft, this makes you look like bumbling idiots. People don’t mind the Validation but every 5 minutes is ridiculous. I really feel people will pay a fair price for an OS, but the constant validations have them looking at Linux & Macs.

Everybody looks for value and Linux with the new support options is becoming more & more attractive to me. Security is first and Microsoft has that. The only reason I became a Microsoft Certified Tech is they are first in security with NOBODY ELSE even close. Microsoft is still losing Market Share on the Office Suite because of the $350 they want. Open Office Orgs/Star Office is truly becoming a beautiful program. Watch out Microsoft, Open Office is real close to Office and free. You can find it at http://www.OpenOffice.org

Root Kits could end ALL Commerce on the Web

Root kits must be studied and stopped. I’m seeing 90% of my severely BUGGED computers with many root kits. Microsoft is Responsible for a few but most are from Spy ware programs like Weather bug etc. As a Field Tech the proliferation of these Root Kits is Scary. None of the anti virus vendors check for them, and Root kit Revealer is the only program I trust to at least find these things, so I can manually delete them...

Microsoft, Computer Associates, Norton, McAffe, You must step up to the plate. Norton, Instead of crying over lost Market Share should be actively pursuing a fix. I’m not sure what the root kits do, but many were Java Scripts that can be vary dangerous. Hopefully Vista attacks the problem. If Vista does solve the problem, then I’d have to recommend people upgrade ASAP.

A computer in my shop for repair last Wednesday was carrying an E-Mailer Trojan spewing out thousands of spam e-mails. After Debugging failed, A Format was the ONLY Alternative.

It appears that the same sites that spewed spy ware & viruses are behind the root kits. Casinos, Porn Sites, Organized Crime, You Betcha….There’s big money in getting your Credit Card and Banking Information. Why pull an armed robbery when you can steal people’s identities, and ultimately there cash?

 Right now http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/RootkitRevealer.html

Has a FREE scanner. If you can’t manually delete them, Format your drive and reinstall your OS.

Blog Futures

Blog Futures? I’ve got to see if the outgoing links raise my Blogs Value? I caught this site and am intrigued. There at: http://blogshares.com/blogs.php?checkid=2463098

Pretty Cool I think. The one stop shop for all your computer needs is http://www.AbacusComputer.us    I’ll have to read more but at least this will be fun reading.

Now to the serious stuff, Root Kits. These little buggers are causing havoc in the IT world. Most Security Software doesn’t scan for them, and if they did, would not know what to do with it. Right now http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/RootkitRevealer.html

Has a FREE scanner. If you can’t manually delete them, Format your drive and reinstall your OS. This is very Serious stuff.

KVM Switches without the Female?

Can anybody out there tell me what good a KVM is without the female source? My supplier sent me 2 KVM’s minus the input device. She told me she’s sold hundreds. Why would you plug one PCs PS2 mouse to another PCs PS2 mouse ? and One PC’s PS2 Keyboard to another PC’s PS2 Keyboard. I’m trying to thing out of the box, but this is ridiculous. Also why would you plug one video cable into the input of another’s PC’s Monitor Output?

My Suppliers must be smoking something other than cigarettes, wish they’d share..

Report Investment Spam to the SEC

The Securities & Exchange Commission wants your spam. With the proliferation of investment & Stock Spam letters, the SEC is going after the spammers and scammers. The E-mail address to the SECs Spam reporting is enforcement@sec.gov . These spammers do the old Pump and Dump thing. Promote the heck out of a few stocks, and sell when the prices rise. This is as illegal as the SPAM they send. Put these criminals behind bars.

The SEC is actively pursuing this scum and with your help they’ll be gone, hopefully.

Routers can lose there transmit Distance

I’m finding that all makes of routers lose there transmit distance over time. This week 2 customers we’re complaining about there wireless network connections. I switched out a 2 year old D-Link for a new Netgear Router. I like D-Link and since we had one in stock I used the one I had (a netgear). At my other clients I did the inverse and changed out an old Netgear for a D-Link Router. Both customers were very pleased and one called a couple days later to compliment the new router. Over the years this trend has been constant with all routers. My only conclusion is that Routers may lose there transmitting distance, so switching out routers is not a bad idea. If it does nothing to improve there connections, then we’ll refund and return the old ones.

D-Link, Linksys & Netgear routers will be stocked at our office with no preference on performance. The Netgears will still have the Automatic Connection wizard, and is best for clients hooking these up themselves.
